DETROIT – One person was killed and three were injured in a shooting on Sunday.
According to Detroit police, four people – three men and a woman – were shot in or near an apartment complex on Sunday evening on the east side of Detroit. Two people were shot inside the apartment complex on Healy Avenue near Ryan Road and Nevada Avenue, police said. Two other people were shot dead in Krainz Park, which is across from the building.
A man was reportedly killed in the shooting in the park. The conditions of the woman and two other men who were shot are currently unknown.
The four people who were shot are believed to be in their twenties.
“These shootings are senseless. These are heinous acts; they are committed by cowards,” Commander Jacqueline Pritchett said. ” It’s Father’s Day. People are enjoying Father’s Day, having a barbecue, and a car drives by and fires shots.
“It’s a cowardly act. It has to stop. »
The shooting is still under investigation. Law enforcement sources told Local 4 they believe the shooting may have taken place in retaliation for a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier in the day in Detroit.
