A family of four was displaced on Friday evening in this year’s second fire at the Tanglewood apartment complex in Kennewick.
The family were not at home at the time of the fire, according to Kennewick police.
But in a fire at the complex in April, Matthew F. Rowlette, 42, died after being removed from his burning apartment.
The Kennewick Fire Department was called at 11:07 p.m. to the complex south of Kamiakin High School at 465 N. Arthur St. on Saturday, Fire Chief Chad Michael said.
Flames were billowing from the window of a second-floor bedroom when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters doused the fire with water from outside the building, as other crews arrived to search for anyone inside the apartment.
They also evacuated nearby apartments and, after the fire was out, verified that the fire had not spread.
The Kennewick Fire Department chaplain helped find temporary accommodation for the adult and the three children whose apartment was damaged.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
