Miami-Dade County, Florida. – Miami Dade Fire Rescue Units responding to a fire Saturday night.
Drivers’ cellphone video captured the bright orange flames, filmed from an apartment along the 13,000 block of SW 17th Lane in southwest Miami Dade.
Tom Lima, owner of the upstairs unit that was damaged by smoke, said the fire started in the unit below and then sent flames upwards.
“I remember coming here as a kid and it was actually my grandparents’ old apartment,” Lima said.
Miami Dade Fire Department told Local 10 that no one was injured in the fire and nearby units did not have to be evacuated.
“It’s sad, it’s something I remember having memories with my family and now it’s burnt on a barbecue,” Lima added.
Our cameras captured the overwhelming response from firefighters, police speaking with families as they investigate, crime scene tape surrounding the apartment, broken windows and, sadly, a dog that neighbors say is dead covered with a yellow tarp.
Around 8 p.m., a Peaceful Paws Pet Cremation Service vehicle picked up the deceased dog.
According to firefighters, no one was injured in this fire and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
