One person had to be hospitalized on Saturday after a fire burned down an apartment in Clairemont Mesa East, the San Diego Fire Department said.

The fire at a two-story complex in Block 3800 of Caminito Aguilar was reported at 4:16 p.m. The first firefighting units arrived at 4:20 p.m., according to the department’s online incident log.

Five fire engines and two fire engines, as well as three medics and two battalion chiefs, responded to the scene.

The fire was isolated in a unit on the first floor and was said to have been brought down around 4:45 p.m.

Residents of the unit, four adults and two children, were evacuated and not all were injured, but another person was taken by ambulance to hospital. This person’s condition was not immediately known. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced residents.

Arson investigators were also called to the scene, according to Battalion Commander Mike McBride.
