MONTOURSVILLE — Pretending that he was “Hearing Voices in Your Head” Jared Ross Nevel got out of his 2014 Buick and suddenly fired his handgun into the door frame of the apartment building at 1220 Broad St. in Montoursville around 2:45 a.m. on July 3, police alleged the borough in an affidavit.
“He also said he thought he saw someone inside the building and fired his gun in the door to gain access to the investigation,” he added. the affidavit stated.
When he pulled into the parking lot moments earlier, his car hit a parked van, police said.
Three people were sleeping in an upstairs apartment when the shot was fired, police said. Police also say Nevel, 41, of Lock Haven, pulled a barbell weight out of his car and allegedly smashed the driver’s window against the truck he hit. “Nevel said he wasn’t sure why he broke the window,” said the police. Following his appearance before District Judge William Solomon on felony charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, reckless endangerment and two counts of criminal mischief, Nevel was jailed in lieu of bail of $50,000.
